Chase for 28!!!

Happy Friday lovelies! Today is the last day of September, so you know what that means...tomorrow is the start of MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!!! Ok, I know it might seem a tad excessive, but it's all in good fun. However, today's also marks the start of the playoffs! I know baseball does not necessarily fit in with the theme of my blog, but the Yankees are one of my great loves. So today I'm popping Champagne and celebrating the chase for 28 (28 world series wins for the Yankees that is)!

Yankee Stadium
Yankees dugout
2010 ALDS - my birthday gift last year was playoff tickets as well!
Stadium at sunset
The Great Hall - some of the best Yankees of all-time
Hoping for some wins this weekend - hope your weekend is fantastic!

Work has been a bit crazy this morning so I'm sorry for the late post (I guess I should just schedule these to post automatically in the morning). I recently got an iPad 2 for work and now I am shopping around for the perfect case of it. Of course these will have to change seasonally, so here are some of my tops picks for Fall and Winter!

Sick Day

Sorry for the lack of post today - I am sick and slept in. So I am taking a sick day from work and the blog, but I will leave you with a beautiful photograph of the room I wish I was spending my sick day in. This is inspiration for my room remodel. Have a lovely day!

Pottery Barn Halloween

Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share with you some of my favorite fall pieces from the current Pottery Barn catalog. It is one of my favorite Sunday activities to sit in my home with a glass of wine and get inspired from all of the lovely images in Pottery Barn and other magazines. Enjoy!

Champagne Mercury Glass Pumpkins
Three of my favorite things in one, mercury glass, pumpkins, and champagne!

White Pumpkin Candles
These are so pretty and would look great in a centerpiece or on a mantle.
Tip: GET THE LOOK FOR LESS - hollow out your own small orange or white
pumpkin and put a votive inside (seen here and here)

Skeleton Hand Drink Dispenser Stand
This would be so much fun for a Halloween party!
Owl Shaped Lantern
I know owls are a little over-done right now, but there is something
about these lanterns I love - they would be great for fall and Halloween
Antiqued Mirror Wall-Mounted Pillar Sconce
This is so cool - I'm not sure I could live with it year round,
but it's perfect for fall and would transition well to winter.
Birch Candle
So simple, yet it would add such a great rustic, autumnal element to
an outdoor fall party or an intimate dinner table.

Rain Delay

Happy Friday! Has this been the longest week ever or is it just me? To top off the long week it's still raining here in NYC and I am without a good trench coat. Here are some of my favorite trench looks this season. Maybe I will take some of my own inspiration and finally buy a new one.

Asos Exclusive Trench
Burberry Trench Coat with Fox Fur Overcollar
Red Valentino Taffeta and lace trench coat
(yes the black detailing on the bottom is part of the coat, not a skirt)
Michael Kors Trench
A good classic option..

Kuza Strap

**Warning: This post is a little more writing than usual, but bear with me, it's worth it for passing along this tip to all of you.***

With boot weather upon us (and the rain in the forecast for at least the next week in the city) it is inevitable that we will all begin facing the great tucking dilemma. You've been there, your hair and makeup are all done, you've chosen the outfit that will go perfectly with those brown leather boots you just bought, you're ready to run out the door - now you just have to figure out how to cram your jeans into the boots. You stand there for a moment looking from your pant leg to that small opening of the boot - and back and forth - scheming and planning. First you try to neatly fold and tuck, but as that begins to fail you start cramming all material (any loose hanging scarves and necklaces included) as far down as your hands can reach. 15 minutes later you're on the floor, hair askew, perfect fall sweater in a ball in the corner - thrown there in frustration - nail broken from shoving your pants into the furthest reaches of your boots, all hope lost.....ok, ok maybe that's just me, and perhaps I am a tad dramatic at times....but you get the point.

Luckily, about 2 years ago, I discovered the Kuza Strap and they have completely solved the problem for me. I have seen other products used for the same purpose, but I tried the Kuza Strap first, and have had really great results. They have forever changed my life! - me? dramatic? not at all...

There are all different designs for the Kuza Strap - this is the Socialite (the pair I own).
They are similar to suspender straps that you attach to the bottom of your pants under your foot, in a way, transforming your pants into stirrups. I have found particular use for them when trying to get loose-fitting work pants into my rain boots, or anything other than leggings into tight leather boots.

So the purpose of my whole spiel here today, was to tell you to how much I love the Kuza Strap and I highly suggest it - you will save yourself time and frustration - trust me.

Fall is in the Air

Happy Monday!!! Although I didn't get to go apple picking this weekend (the rain quashed that idea) I did have a lot of fun. We went go-kart racing, shopping at the Palisades Mall (I love nyc, but I am from NJ, I miss malls), I made delicious banana bread pancakes (I'll share the recipe and pictures soon!), and lots of relaxation. Most of all I enjoyed the AMAZING fall weather! Although it may not "officially" start until Friday, Fall is definitely here!

Reading Chairs

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! (for real today!) The weather in New York is chilly and beautiful this morning. This weekend I want to curl up in a big, comfortable chair with a great book and cup of pumpkin coffee....problem is I don't have a big, comfortable chair in my apartment yet. Here are some I'm looking at getting (and some I'm just wishing about)...

This grey Anthropolgy Corrigan Chair would match my new room decor perfectly!
I love leather chairs and the shape of this Restoration Hardware Churchill Reading Chair is perfect....and how comfortable does it look?
I love the clean lines, and the white color contrasted with the brown wood and green details.

And, although it's not quite a reading chair, I would love to be wrapped in blankets, reading here all weekend long:

Have a great weekend.

Happy Friday!.....Wait...Thursday?

Is there anything worse than waking up and thinking it's a Friday when it's not? Ok, well, technically there are worse things, but it's not the best way to start a day. Work has been insanely busy these past few weeks, so my projects for the blog have fallen to the wayside a bit, but I will have a lot of time this weekend to work on them.

Today, at the request of a few people, I am going to share with you my current Fall Playlist.

Elvis Costello:     "She"
This is actually a cover that he recorded for the Notting Hill Soundtrack.
Steve Tyrell:     "Give Me the Simple Life" and "On the Sunny Side of the Street"
I first heard Steve Tyrell sing these songs in Father of the Bride: Part 2 (which I LOVE),
but my friend Kelly and I also stopped into Elaine's (which is sadly closed now) a few months ago and heard the entire back story to how Steve kind of mistakenly ended up performing these for the
soundtrack (those are the Elaine's stories I miss).
Caroline Smith & the Good Night Sleeps:     "Tying My Shoes"
Pretty much this entire album is amazing!
Melody Gardot:     "Quiet Fire"
Again, another entire album that is amazing, but her story of how she used music
as therapy after being hit by a car might be more amazing (read all about her here).
Miles Davis:     "Autumn Leaves"
This one speaks for itself - who doesn't love the always cool Miles Davis?
What are you listening to?

I'm wishing for exposed brick in my bedroom like this!

And i'm wishing for good weather for apple picking this weekend!

What are your wishes this Wednesday?
